On August 6, the northern section of Nanjing Metro Line 5, in which Sinohydro Bureau 8 participated in construction, began initial operations, marking the full-line through operation of Metro Line 5.

Nanjing Metro Line 5 starts at Jiyin Avenue Station and ends at Fangjiaying Station. It is a backbone line running north-south through Nanjing's main urban area, with a total length of 37.4 kilometers, entirely underground, and a total of 30 underground stations, 14 of which are transfer stations, making it a veritable "transfer king."

Sinohydro Bureau 8 undertook the construction task for two stations and three running tunnels on Nanjing Metro Line 5, of which both stations are transfer stations; one running tunnel passes beneath the Shili Qinhuai River and the Nanjing-Wuhu Railway, and another passes beneath the moat and the Ming City Wall. During construction, the project team made full use of BIM technology to optimize the design of the scheme, strictly controlled safety and quality, and successively overcame many difficulties, including high requirements for cultural relic protection, complex underground pipelines, poor geological and hydrological conditions, and heavy traffic in bustling areas. Rising to the challenges and tackling difficulties head-on, the team successfully completed the construction task.

After the line opens, it will greatly improve traffic conditions in Nanjing's urban area, shorten cross-district commuting time, further benefit Nanjing citizens, and help build the beautiful ancient capital.
