On August 1 local time, Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah and his delegation inspected the Amaria Hydropower Station in Guinea, which is being built by Sinohydro Bureau 3 Co., Ltd. under Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), and affirmed POWERCHINA's positive contributions to Guinea.

Prime Minister Oury and his delegation successively inspected the No. 1 10-megawatt photovoltaic power station, the Amaria Hydropower Station hub project and the downstream traffic bridge, and were briefed in detail on the project planning and phased achievements. He highly affirmed the project's strategic value for Guinea's energy and industrial development, praised the "China speed" of project construction, and particularly commended POWERCHINA's outstanding contributions to promoting local employment, improving infrastructure and cultivating local talent. In the subsequent meeting, Prime Minister Oury heard a report from Sinohydro Bureau 3 on the overall construction progress of the project.

During project construction, Sinohydro Bureau 3 drew on its rich experience from key projects it built in Guinea, including Kaleta and Souapiti, to advance the construction of the Amaria Hydropower Station with high standards and high quality. At the same time, it actively fulfilled its responsibilities as a central state-owned enterprise, creating more than 2,300 local jobs cumulatively and enhancing workers' skills through systematic training, thereby cultivating professional engineering and technical talent for Guinea. Sinohydro Bureau 3 will continue to practice the Belt and Road Initiative, make every effort to advance project construction, build the Amaria Hydropower Station into a model project of China-Guinea friendly cooperation, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and write a new chapter in China-Guinea friendship.

The Amaria Hydropower Station is a landmark project of the deep integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and Africa's energy transition, and its construction and operation are of major strategic significance for optimizing the energy mix of Guinea and the West African region. The station has a total installed capacity of 300 megawatts, equipped with three 100-megawatt Kaplan turbine-generator units, with an average annual power generation of 1.383 billion kilowatt-hours. Once completed, the project will be able to meet about 30% of Guinea's national electricity demand, delivering stable clean power to the capital Conakry and mining areas.
