On August 1 local time, the Santa Elena municipal road renovation project in Ecuador undertaken by PowerChina Construction Company received the final handover certificate issued by the owner. This handover covers three main roads—Guayaquil Road, La Libertad-Santa Elena Road, and Malecón Seaside Road—marking another benchmark achievement for the company in Ecuador's municipal engineering sector.

As the "lifeline" of Santa Elena's transportation network, these three roads carry more than 60% of the city's passenger and freight traffic. After renovation, road capacity has been greatly improved, traffic accident rates have dropped significantly, commuting conditions for residents along the routes have been enhanced, and average daily commuting time has been shortened compared with the past. Tracking data from the Development Bank of Ecuador shows that after the project is fully put into operation, the directly benefited population will increase from 16,719 in 2021 to 27,075 in 2041, covering core industry clusters such as commerce, fishing, and tourism, and is expected to continuously drive GDP growth in the areas along the routes. It is worth mentioning that the renovation of Malecón Seaside Road not only improved transportation connections for the coastal sightseeing belt, but its supporting drainage system upgrade also solved the local problem of waterlogging during the rainy season that had plagued the area for many years, winning widespread praise from the local government and residents.
