Recently, under the precise traction of a Zoomlion 450-ton crawler crane, the stay ring of Unit 1 at the Hubei Pankou Pumped Storage Power Station was smoothly lowered from tens of meters in the air into the machine pit and positioned in place. The stay ring lifted this time has a maximum rotation diameter of over 13 meters, making it the largest stay ring for a pumped storage unit in China to date. Its successful lifting marks that the installation of embedded parts for the station's turbine units has fully entered its peak period.

The Pankou Pumped Storage Power Station is a project in the national medium- and long-term development plan for pumped storage and a key implementation project of Hubei Province's 14th Five-Year Plan. It is also currently the ultra-low-head pumped storage project under construction in China with the largest head variation and the largest runner diameter. As the core component of the turbine's embedded parts, the stay ring plays a skeleton role in the entire unit, and its installation quality directly affects the operating efficiency and stability of the whole machine. The stay ring lifted this time was transported to the site in two halves, weighing approximately 92 tons and 85 tons respectively, with a total weight of 177 tons per unit, a maximum outer diameter of 10.1 meters, and a height of 3.14 meters.

Faced with such a giant, coupled with the narrow powerhouse, limited site space, and risks brought by cross-operation during lifting, safely lifting the stay ring into the designated machine pit with millimeter-level precision was no small challenge. After careful study and prudent consideration, the project department of the contractor ultimately selected the Zoomlion 450-ton crawler crane, this "steel giant arm," to undertake the task.

During the lifting process, the Zoomlion 450-ton crawler crane used two relocations to perform the split-half lifting, demonstrating strong working-condition adaptability and lifting stability. From the start of the first unit's stay ring lifting on July 14 to July 16, the stay ring lifting tasks for two units were successfully completed in just three days, showcasing the style of a heavy-duty machine with safe, efficient, and precise construction performance.

The smooth lifting of the first unit's stay ring at the Pankou Pumped Storage Power Station has laid a solid foundation for the orderly advancement of subsequent spiral case installation work.
