On July 18, the 2×450 MW gas turbine combined cycle power plant project in Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, in which Shandong Electric Power Construction Company (SEPCO) is participating as a contractor, officially broke ground, marking that the country's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant has entered the substantive construction stage.
The project is located in Botum Sakor District, Koh Kong Province, Cambodia, and is planned to build two combined cycle generating units using F-class gas turbines, with a total installed capacity of 900 MW. Among them, SEPCO is responsible for the civil construction task of Lot 1 of the project, covering the foundation construction and structural works of core areas such as the main powerhouse, cooling towers, and the booster station.
As a key project in Cambodia's energy sector, once completed, the project is expected to account for one quarter of the country's total annual power generation. It will not only significantly enhance the stability of Cambodia's power supply, but also, through the clean energy characteristics of LNG, promote the low-carbon transformation of the local energy mix and provide solid support for the development of green industries. In addition, during the construction period, the project will create hundreds of jobs and, through skills training and on-site practice, cultivate professional and technical talent for the local labor market.
SEPCO will fully leverage its experience and advantages in the construction of large-scale energy projects, strictly control project quality, implement work safety responsibilities, efficiently coordinate resources such as technology and materials, and make every effort to build the project into a landmark energy project of China-Cambodia friendship, contributing to Cambodia's economic and social development.
