The groundbreaking ceremony for the lower Yarlung Tsangpo River hydropower project was held on the morning of July 19 in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region. Li Qiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, attended the ceremony and announced the official start of the project.

The lower Yarlung Tsangpo River hydropower project is a super hydropower project built by China in Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, with a total investment of about 1.2 trillion yuan. The project mainly adopts a development approach of straightening the river bend and diverting water through tunnels, and will build five cascade hydropower stations with a total installed capacity of 60-81 million kilowatts, equivalent to the scale of three Three Gorges power stations, with an annual power generation of about 300 billion kWh, which can meet the annual electricity demand of 300 million people. As a major breakthrough in China's clean energy strategy, the project will not only reshape China's energy landscape, but also have a profound impact on Tibet's economic development and ecological environmental protection.

The project is also one of the most challenging super hydropower projects in the world, facing construction difficulties brought by extremely complex geological conditions and climatic environments. The equipment can achieve 100-meter-class ultra-deep vibroflotation, solve the difficulties of vibroflotation penetrating gravel overburden layers and multi-machine collaborative operation, and improve the work efficiency of vibroflotation construction.
