He has held academic positions including council member of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization and vice chairman of its Foundation Engineering Committee, council member of the Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, member of the Foundation Pit Engineering Professional Committee of the Building Construction Academic Committee of the Architectural Society of China, member of the Building Foundation Standardization Technical Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, and editorial board member of the Journal of Building Structures. He has long been engaged in theoretical research, design and construction, standard compilation, and consulting and appraisal work in geotechnical engineering fields such as foundation pit support, underground space development, slope treatment, and ground treatment. He once served as director of a research office of the Institute of Foundation Engineering of China Academy of Building Research, council member of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization and secretary-general of its Foundation Engineering Committee, member of the Collapsible Loess Committee, and head of the Pile Foundation Testing Professional Group, among other academic positions. Chief editor of the Specification for Hammer Penetration Pile Testing (CECS35-91) and the Specification for High-Strain Dynamic Testing of Foundation Piles (JGJ106-97). Won 4 Science and Technology Progress Awards from the Ministry of Construction. Published more than 50 papers. He holds the qualification of National Registered Civil Engineer (Geotechnical).
