On July 5, with the assistance of an 800-ton crawler crane and two 100-ton truck cranes, the wind turbine rotor was precisely docked with the nacelle at high altitude, and the first wind turbine of the Qugogam 200 MW wind power project in Seni District, undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 14, was successfully hoisted into place.
The Qugogam wind power project in Seni District is currently the largest wind power project under construction in Tibet, at an altitude of 4,600 to 4,850 meters, with a complex and changeable climate and year-round high winds; it is an ultra-high-altitude alpine grassland wind farm. The project plans to install 40 wind turbine generator sets with a total installed capacity of 200 MW, equipped with 40 MW/160 MWh grid-forming energy storage. After completion and grid connection, annual on-grid electricity is expected to exceed 436 million kWh, equivalent to saving 131,500 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 359,400 tons per year.
The first wind turbine is located at an altitude of 4,700 meters. The unit consists of five steel tower sections, with the bottom tower section having a maximum diameter of 5.1 meters, a 110-ton generator, a hub center height of 118 meters, and a rotor diameter of 195 meters. It features a split nacelle and generator structure and fully independent converter technology. "After the project is completed, digital and intelligent technologies will automatically collect wind turbine monitoring data, while drones will conduct intelligent inspections of the turbines, automatically feeding information back to the central control room for data analysis and issuing instructions, thereby achieving intelligent control and management of the wind farm, reducing the impact of ultra-high-altitude climate on wind farm operation and maintenance, and improving efficiency while saving operation and maintenance management costs," introduced a project official.
Riding the "wind" and advancing toward "green." The Qugogam wind power project in Seni District is expected to be ready for grid-connected power generation by the end of October this year. Once completed and put into operation, it will enhance the power grid's ability to withstand risks, improve the safety and stability of the regional power grid, and truly transform resource advantages into economic and social advantages.
