Recently, the Qingyang A1 Photovoltaic Project, China's first large-scale integrated energy base featuring an "wind-solar-thermal-storage integration" and constructed by SEPCO1 (Shandong Electric Power Construction No.1 Company), was successfully connected to the grid and began generating power, injecting strong green momentum into the high-quality development of this old revolutionary base area.
The A1 Photovoltaic Project is located in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, in the hilly and gully region of the Loess Plateau. It is invested in and built by Huaneng Group, with a planned DC-side installed capacity of 106.22 MWp and comprising 58 photovoltaic arrays. The project is connected via 35 kV collector lines to a supporting 330 kV booster station.
Since the project was launched on May 8, 2024, the project team has faced numerous challenges. The local collapsible loess geological conditions imposed extremely high requirements on the foundation construction of the photovoltaic mounting structures. At the same time, the mountainous terrain has caused the photovoltaic array plots to be highly dispersed, significantly increasing the difficulty of material transportation and construction management. In addition, the local climate is highly variable, with frequent severe weather such as strong winds and sandstorms, seriously affecting the construction schedule. Faced with these multiple difficulties, the project department carefully formulated a construction plan. To address the transportation challenges, it adopted the method of transporting modules by drone, effectively improving construction efficiency and safety. To cope with severe weather, the project department closely monitored weather forecasts and reasonably adjusted the construction plan, making advance preparations for equipment protection and personnel safety measures before the arrival of severe weather such as strong winds and sandstorms.
With the full completion of the "Gansu Power Transmission to Shandong" project, the 40 billion kWh of green electricity transmitted annually by this project will help Shandong reduce coal consumption by 16 million tons and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 32 million tons, making it a benchmark project of the "West-to-East Power Transmission" strategy. SEPCO1 will continue to refine its technologies and processes, building more green energy hubs amid the green mountains and clear waters of the motherland and contributing the strength of a central state-owned enterprise to painting a beautiful green picture of China.
