From April 25 to 27, 2025, the Geotechnical GMBA Class of the Foundation Engineering Academy successfully held a three-day series of courses in Beijing. This course focused on cutting-edge topics in the field of geotechnical engineering, covering diverse content including engineering auditing, intellectual property, financial trends, legal practice, and field visits. Renowned industry experts were specially invited to teach, creating a learning scenario for students that deeply integrates theory and practice and helping to enhance their comprehensive professional competence.

1

Audit Practice: Analyzing Pain Points and Solving Judicial Appraisal Challenges

On the afternoon of April 25, Senior Engineer Feng Yun, a senior member of the China Cost Engineering Association, delivered a lecture titled "Analysis of Key Audit Issues in Geotechnical Engineering and Suggested Solutions." Drawing on years of audit experience, he used typical cases to deeply analyze geotechnical engineering audit processes, high-frequency problems, and response strategies. Regarding the project settlement stage, which involves relatively frequent litigation in the industry, Mr. Feng specifically pointed out common misunderstandings in judicial appraisal, such as the admissibility of evidence and the application of pricing rules, and emphasized that audit work must balance compliance with technical professionalism, providing students with practical guidance for project risk control.

2

Intellectual Property Innovation: Redefining the Path of Innovation Protection

On the morning of April 26, Huang Fei, a second-level inspector of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, gave a special lecture titled "Reunderstanding Intellectual Property," developed from two dimensions: conceptual reconstruction and essential analysis. On the one hand, he reinterpreted the profound connotations of "knowledge," "property," and "rights" in intellectual property, revealing the legal logic of the "intangibility" and "monopoly" of patents; on the other hand, through seven major propositions including "the motivation of patent law" and "the value of core patents," he systematically sorted out the connection between patent layout and original innovation, guiding students to attach strategic importance to the protective role of intellectual property in the transformation of geotechnical engineering technology and providing new ideas for enterprises' innovation-driven development.

3

Financial Empowerment: Gaining Insight into the Logic of Capital Operations in the Construction Industry

On the afternoon of the same day, Dr. Song Xiaojun, vice president of the China Construction Bank Training Center, delivered a lecture titled "Current Status and Outlook of Construction Industry Finance," providing an in-depth interpretation of changes in industry financing models, infrastructure investment trends, and financial risk prevention and control. Combining macroeconomic policies with CCB's practical experience in serving the infrastructure sector, the course analyzed the application scenarios of new tools such as green finance and REITs in geotechnical engineering, helping students understand the underlying logic of coordinated development between finance and industry and providing a forward-looking perspective for project fund management and the integration of industry and finance.

4

Legal Practice: Deconstructing Difficult Issues in Contract Disputes

On the morning of April 27, Gao Yinli, senior counsel at Beijing Cailan Law Firm, focused on "Legal Practice of Construction Project Contracts," centering on five core issues including the determination of contract validity, price settlement, and quality disputes. Combining disputed focal points such as the validity of "back-to-back" clauses, remedies for actual constructors' rights, and the determination of apparent agency, he compared and analyzed judicial adjudication rules through real cases. The course specifically addressed practical difficulties such as project change claims and the exercise of priority repayment rights, sorted out key points of compliance management, and helped students improve their ability to anticipate contract risks and resolve disputes.

Field Study: Exploring a National-Level Bridge Research Highland

Field Study

At the end of the course, the students visited the National Engineering Research Center for Long-Span Highway Bridges, the only national-level engineering research platform in the bridge field. Guided by an interpreter, the students visited cutting-edge facilities such as the deep-water foundation laboratory and the structural safety monitoring laboratory, and learned about the research tasks undertaken by the center in super projects such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, as well as its technological breakthroughs in areas such as prefabricated bridges and intelligent monitoring. As the supporting institution of the "Academician Zhang Xigang Workstation," the center has undertaken more than 50 national-level scientific research projects, and its integrated innovation model of "industry-university-research-application" left a deep impression on the students. The field study session became a vivid footnote to the transformation of theoretical knowledge into engineering practice.

Through the three-dimensional design of "professional lectures + on-site teaching," this course closely combined professional knowledge with industry practice and helped students build a multi-dimensional capability system. Students said that the course content was both forward-looking and practical, and that it not only deepened their understanding of the entire industry chain but also gave them new inspiration in cross-disciplinary collaborative thinking. The visit to the National Engineering Research Center further stimulated in-depth thinking about technological innovation and engineering application.

The Geotechnical GMBA Class of the Foundation Engineering Academy has always aimed to cultivate compound talents who "understand technology, are good at management, and possess an international perspective." In the future, it will continue to integrate top-tier faculty and industry resources, build a platform for continuous growth and empowerment for industry elites, and help promote high-quality development in China's geotechnical engineering field.
