Recently, the Sinohydro J07 dredger commenced channel dredging operations in the Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Free Zone in Nigeria, marking the official launch of the Akwa Ibom Oil and Gas Free Zone dredging and reclamation project undertaken by PowerChina Port and Waterway Engineering Co., Ltd.
The project's main construction scope includes 3 million cubic meters of channel dredging and 25 million cubic meters of land reclamation. Facing difficulties such as shortages of construction resources, an unreliable fuel supply, and delays in the handover of temporary facility sites, the project team ensured the smooth progress of the works through measures including coordinated pipeline assembly and enhanced technical briefings and safety training for crew members.
Next, the project department will make every effort to advance the onshore reclamation operations, focusing on pipeline layout, cofferdam construction, and drainage system planning, while continuously optimizing the construction organization plan to ensure the progress of land formation construction and guarantee the project's on-schedule delivery.
