On March 20, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. and Cummins (China) Investment Co., Ltd. officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motor, and Wang Kaijun, Vice President of Cummins and General Manager of the Engine Business Unit in China, attended the signing ceremony. The two parties will focus on the joint development and promotion of dedicated hybrid powertrains for heavy trucks, accelerating the decarbonization of commercial vehicles.
01 Collaborative Co-creation |Jointly setting a new benchmark for energy conservation and emission reduction in long-haul trunk-line logistics

As a global pioneer in powertrain technology, Cummins engines have long been renowned in the industry for their outstanding reliability, power performance and fuel economy. Having cultivated the Chinese market for 50 years, Cummins has become one of the important powertrain choices in China's commercial vehicle market thanks to its technological leadership, localized adaptation capabilities and excellent product performance. Particularly in the express delivery and fast freight industry, which prioritizes cost control and transport efficiency, Cummins powertrain solutions have become the preferred choice of the industry.
Cummins is committed to advancing the goal of zero carbon. Through cutting-edge technologies such as multi-fuel engine platforms, hybrid powertrains and fuel cells, it provides customers with a rich variety of powertrain options in their decarbonization and zero-carbon transition. In this cooperation, Cummins and Great Wall Commercial Vehicles have reached a consensus: the two parties will give full play to their respective technological advantages, focus on the innovative features of Great Wall Commercial Vehicles' Hi4-G super-intelligent hybrid system, and through technological synergy and in-depth co-creation, use hybrid technology to jointly set an industry benchmark for long-haul trunk-line logistics, bringing a new solution for energy conservation, emission reduction, cost reduction and efficiency improvement to the express delivery and fast freight industry.
02 Technological Innovation| Driving new breakthroughs in hybrid technology in the heavy truck industry
Great Wall Motor's hybrid technology has always centered on full-stack in-house development capabilities, building a technology matrix covering all vehicle categories through architectural innovation, scenario-based adaptation and intelligent control. Its Hi4-G super-intelligent hybrid system breaks the homogeneity dilemma of the P2 architecture for hybrid heavy trucks, opening up a new approach with a differentiated P2+P2.5 dual-motor configuration. The system is the first to be equipped with a commercial vehicle 8-speed DHT transmission and a full-stack in-house-developed 9-in-1 powertrain domain controller, and combined with a customized, specially calibrated Cummins high-thermal-efficiency engine, it delivers outstanding fuel-saving performance.

Currently, according to preliminary actual operation tests by users, the fuel-saving rate of Great Wall hybrid heavy trucks equipped with this hybrid system has reached 15%-25%. After the cooperation, the two parties will continue to optimize the current powertrain solution around Great Wall's Hi4-G super-intelligent hybrid system, and jointly refine a dedicated hybrid engine, further driving the innovative development of hybrid technology and helping long-haul trunk-line logistics reduce costs and increase efficiency. Following the signing, the all-new hybrid technology solutions and products will also be released successively.
This cooperation is not only a strong alliance of the two parties' technological strengths, but also an important milestone for China's commercial vehicle industry as it moves toward low-carbon and intelligent development. Through complementary advantages and in-depth co-creation, Great Wall Commercial Vehicles and Cummins will jointly lead the innovative development of heavy truck hybrid technology, contribute to achieving the "dual carbon" goals, and drive China's commercial vehicle industry toward a more efficient and cleaner future.
