Recently, the Yarkon River Bridge in Section G3-4 of the Tel Aviv Green Line Light Rail, constructed by Sinohydro Bureau 5 Co., Ltd., successfully completed the hoisting of 6 precast girders for the river-crossing span, marking the achievement of north-south connectivity for this key controlling project. Gil Enbar, a senior executive of NTA (Tel Aviv Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd.), and reporters from multiple Israeli media outlets attended the site to witness this important moment. The efficient execution of this hoisting task laid a solid foundation for the subsequent bridge deck paving and final closure of the full bridge.

The Yarkon Light Rail Bridge is located within Yarkon Park, where the construction area is densely packed with municipal facilities such as trees and streetlights, resulting in limited working space. The river-crossing hoisting works required the erection of 6 double-T precast girders over the 55-meter-wide Yarkon River, each 31 meters long and weighing 72 tons, with a hoisting height of 35 meters. Constrained by the water environment and site conditions, the construction was extremely difficult. After multiple rounds of scheme demonstration, the project team ultimately adopted a dual-crane tandem lifting construction scheme. The precast girders were transported by girder carrier from a precast yard 12 kilometers away to the highway bridge on the east side of the light rail bridge, and then two 550-ton large cranes worked in coordination to precisely place the girders onto Piers No. 3 and No. 4.

This hoisting operation involved nighttime closure construction on Rokach Municipal Boulevard and coincided with the flood season and rainy season; continuous rainfall caused rapid river flows, further increasing construction difficulty. The project team completed the approval of road closure, girder transport, and nighttime construction permits 3 months in advance, and conducted multiple rounds of tabletop exercises with the traffic management department, police department, and river authority to continuously optimize the details of the construction scheme. As the 6 precast girders are oversized transport components, the project team applied to the police department for full-route escort permits in accordance with regulations. Ultimately, 11 police vehicles and 33 police officers were responsible for the 12-kilometer escort task from the precast yard to the construction site across two urban districts, ensuring transport safety.

On February 24, two 550-ton cranes successfully completed mobilization and assembly. At 22:00 on February 24, the road closure officially took effect and the river warning cordon was completed; 11 police vehicles escorted 3 extra-long girder carriers to safely deliver the precast girders to the construction area. At 22:30, the first precast girder was slowly lifted and precisely aligned; technical personnel strictly controlled the expansion joints and gaps at the girder ends to ensure accurate positioning. Over two consecutive nighttime construction windows on the 24th and 25th, the hoisting task for the 6 precast girders of the river-crossing span was successfully completed.

Up to now, Section G3-4 of the Green Line Light Rail has completed the hoisting of a cumulative total of 100 precast girders for the Yarkon Light Rail Bridge, with erection progress exceeding 90% and overall bridge construction 93% complete. The project has transitioned from civil concrete construction to the construction stage of steel structures and landscape greening ancillary works, and the construction team is making an all-out sprint to ensure the bridge is completed on schedule.

Section G3-4 of the Tel Aviv Green Line Light Rail is one of the key projects under Israel's National Transportation Plan 2030 and is constructed by Power Construction Corporation of China. The section is 820 meters long in total and includes a main line light rail bridge and a ground-level station with a floor area of 2,400 square meters. As Phase II of the light rail network, once completed it will connect the northern and southern areas of Tel Aviv with the city center, greatly enhancing the accessibility of the urban rail transit network and improving residents' travel experience. As an important controlling project of the Green Line Light Rail, the Yarkon Light Rail Bridge is designed with both environmental protection and aesthetics in mind, and upon completion it will become a new landmark building in Tel Aviv.

The project team of Sinohydro Bureau 5 will continue to uphold the principle of "quality first, safety foremost," make every effort to advance construction progress, strive to achieve full-line connectivity at an early date, and contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to the development of urban rail transit in Israel.
