Above the waves of Bohai Bay, a symphony of photovoltaics and the sea is being played. The Shandong Kenli 1-million-kilowatt offshore photovoltaic project, China's first million-kilowatt-class offshore PV project, has recently connected its first batch of power generation units to the grid. Several large-tonnage crawler cranes from Zoomlion are deeply involved in the project's construction, contributing to the large-scale development of China's offshore photovoltaics with outstanding performance.

The Shandong Kenli 1-million-kilowatt offshore photovoltaic project is not only China's largest offshore PV project in open waters, but also the world's first gigawatt (1-million-kilowatt)-class offshore PV engineering project. During construction, the supports are first assembled and the PV panels installed at the dock, after which the completed PV platforms are hoisted to the dock front and transported by ship to the offshore construction area.

It is understood that each PV platform in the project weighs hundreds of tons. At the dock construction site, there are multiple challenges such as heavy hoisting loads, high humidity, high corrosion, and strong sea winds. After workers complete processes including outrigger assembly, welding, weld inspection, and anti-corrosion coating touch-up, Zoomlion cranes smoothly, precisely, and steadily complete the hoisting tasks, effectively ensuring the smooth progress of the project.

A person in charge at Zoomlion introduced: "In this project, we have several large-tonnage crawler cranes deeply supporting construction, such as the ZCC12500, ZCC17000, and ZCC18000. These big machines have performed very well in the project, and their quality and performance have been highly recognized by the customer."

The successful grid connection of the first batch of units of the Shandong Kenli 1-million-kilowatt offshore photovoltaic project has played a leading and demonstrative role in the large-scale development of the offshore PV industry in China and even the world. At present, the subsequent construction of the project is being accelerated, and Zoomlion cranes have also participated in the new construction, continuing to contribute to China's achievement of the "dual carbon" goals.
