On March 5, Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa visited the site of the Kidunda Dam Project undertaken by PowerChina Municipal Corporation and attended the project's groundbreaking ceremony. He was accompanied by the Minister of Water of Tanzania, regional officials from Morogoro Region, the project owner, the supervision engineer, and the project manager.
Majaliwa and his delegation went deep into the project site and conducted on-site inspections of key construction areas such as the power generation plant and the spillway. They listened to a detailed report from the owner's representative on the project progress, gained a comprehensive understanding of the construction of the dam main body, the power generation plant, the spillway, and the power transmission and transformation system, and held a grand groundbreaking ceremony for this national strategic project on the left bank of the dam.
After listening to reports from all parties on construction progress, technical challenges, and safety management, Majaliwa expressed appreciation for the project team's efficient collaboration and the phased results achieved. He noted that the Kidunda Dam not only carries the expectations of the people's livelihood but is also an important cornerstone for achieving green economic transformation. The project's current progress fully demonstrates PowerChina's engineering execution capability and sense of responsibility. He expressed confidence that, with PowerChina's outstanding construction capabilities and rich experience, the project will certainly meet quality requirements and achieve the water storage target on schedule, injecting strong momentum into Tanzania's economic and social development.
The Kidunda Dam Project is a national key project of Tanzania. Once completed, it will effectively alleviate water supply shortages in downstream areas, promote agricultural irrigation and economic development, and be of great significance for improving people's livelihoods and advancing green transformation. At present, the project has entered the critical stage of constructing the power generation plant and spillway.
