Zeng Guang'an, Chairman of the Excavator Branch of the China Construction Machinery Association and President of LiuGong, predicted on October 17 that China's excavator market demand in 2013 is expected to be 110,000 units, roughly flat with 2012, and that market demand in 2014 is expected to reach a scale of 120,000 units.

Zeng Guang'an pointed out that while the excavator market further absorbs excess capacity, in the medium and long term China's excavator market will reach a market scale of more than 200,000 units in the future. He said, "China remains the world's largest excavator market, and in the coming years China's excavator market will show a trend of steady growth."

Starting in May 2011, the impact of the "4 trillion yuan investment" came to an abrupt halt, and excavator market demand fell sharply from its peak. Zeng Guang'an said that it is estimated to take 3-5 years to absorb this excess capacity.

At present, in addition to overseas investors such as Doosan Heavy Industries, Caterpillar, Hitachi Construction Machinery, Kobelco and Volvo, excavators are also produced by Xiamen XGMA, Sany Heavy Machinery, LiuGong, XCMG, Zoomlion and Shandong Lingong.
