Since the large-scale renovation project of the "Chengdu North Railway Station" familiar to Sichuan residents began, what stage has it reached now? On February 14, the reporter learned from the Passenger Station Construction Command of China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. that recently, the first cover slab of the elevated plaza of the Chengdu Station capacity expansion and renovation project was poured, marking the full completion of the foundation pit works in the second phase of the project. The main structure of the south station building has been completed, and the project has entered the elevated plaza construction stage.
Construction site
After the Spring Festival, the Chengdu Station capacity expansion and renovation project has fully resumed work. On the 160,000-square-meter site, machinery roars, tower cranes tower high, and transport vehicles shuttle back and forth, making the construction site busy and orderly. More than 500 builders have set off a work-resumption upsurge, pressing the "accelerator" for the upgrade and renovation of the railway hub in Southwest China.
According to Wang Lun, Party branch secretary of the station building project department of Chengdu Station of China Railway Eighth Group, the elevated plaza in the second phase of the Chengdu Station capacity expansion and renovation project has a total of 43 floor slabs, each about 40 x 40 meters and 1,600 square meters in area. The pouring of the first cover slab marks the official start of the main structure capping of the elevated plaza, laying the foundation for realizing the railway line transition within the year."
Construction site
At present, the foundation pit operation area is using a plasma cutting machine to cut the steel casings, completing the pile breaking process and providing a working face for the next step of pile cap construction. "The underground Metro Line 1, Line 7, and the existing railway lines overlap as the 'three lines,' and the pile foundation is only 4 meters away from the metro tunnel at the closest point." According to Yang Jie, chief engineer of the station building project department of Chengdu Station of China Railway Eighth Group, in order to ensure that pile foundation construction and foundation pit excavation will not disturb Metro Line 1, they adopted the full-casing follow-up construction technology, together with 24-hour automated displacement monitoring, ensuring metro safety.
On the west side of the site, pipeline relocation and protective construction are underway. In response to issues such as noise, dust, and sewage during construction, the project innovatively adopts an "intelligent dust suppression" model, keeping the PM2.5 concentration at the site within the prescribed indicators.
As an important node of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network, the Chengdu Station capacity expansion and renovation project covers railway station buildings, elevated plazas, rail transit, and other sections. Once completed, it will achieve "zero transfer" among intercity high-speed rail, municipal express rail, metro, and buses, becoming the core hub of the "one-hour commuting circle" of the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle.
