The world's highest bridge under construction—the Huajiang Canyon Bridge on the Liuzhi-Anlong Expressway in Guizhou—has been successfully closed.
The Huajiang Grand Canyon is known as the "Earth's Crack," with steep canyon terrain, complex geological conditions, and precipitous mountains on both sides. The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is a controlling project of the Liuzhi-Anlong Expressway in Guizhou Province. It is invested in and built by Guizhou Communications Investment Group and constructed by its subsidiary Bridge Group.
The bridge has a total length of 2,890 meters, a main span of 1,420 meters, and a deck-to-water height of 625 meters. Once completed, its main span will rank first in the world among mountain bridges, and its height will rank first in the world, earning it the title of world No. 1 in both span and height. After opening to traffic, travel time from Liuzhi Special District to Anlong County will be reduced from 3 hours to 1.5 hours, which is of great significance for boosting Guizhou's economic development, accelerating resource connectivity, and promoting the local economy.

The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is a super-long-span steel truss suspension bridge. The bridge consists of 93 steel truss girder segments, with a total weight of 21,000 tons. Lifting of the first segment began on November 4, 2024. Excluding power system maintenance and adverse weather during the lifting period, the project team completed all steel truss girder lifting operations in just two months, demonstrating Guizhou's speed in bridge construction to the world.

The Huajiang Canyon Bridge is a key bridge-tourism integration project in Guizhou Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. It will create a distinctive project deeply integrating bridge tourism and sports tourism under the concept of "the bridge as destination, the bridge as culture, and the bridge as setting," incorporating elements such as tourism sightseeing, ethnic customs, rural revitalization, bridge culture, and geological wonders. Once completed, it will link Huangguoshu, Longgong, Shuangrufeng, and Sanchahe scenic areas into a one-hour tourism circle, becoming a new highlight of tourism industrialization.
