At 9:05 Beijing time on January 7, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County, Shigatse City, Tibet, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake occurred in a high-altitude, severely cold region amid freezing weather, causing numerous houses to collapse and creating an urgent need for various types of rescue equipment and supplies.

After the earthquake, Taiyuan Heavy Machinery (TZ) immediately established an emergency rescue team, actively contacted local government departments, and urgently dispatched rescue equipment and supplies from Tibet, traveling day and night to reach the disaster area.

When disaster strikes, help comes from all sides. On the plateau, TZ excavators joined forces with all rescue teams, merging into the steel torrent of earthquake relief, heading together to the foot of Mount Everest with the sole aim of helping one another and overcoming the difficulties together.

"What we had in mind at the time was to set out for rescue as quickly as possible. We rapidly assembled excavator models suitable for emergency rescue, such as the TZ60 and TZ210, and coordinated excavator operators, service support personnel, and on-site dispatch personnel to liaise with the Dingri County disaster relief command center, ensuring that TZ's rescue forces could be deployed quickly and promptly," said a TZ staff member in the Tibet region.

The "golden 72 hours" is the optimal rescue window after a geological disaster. As of now, TZ excavators have arrived at the site at an altitude of over 4,000 meters and have been deployed to the front lines of rescue, fully cooperating with the local government in rescue operations including emergency rescue and site clearing—removing silt, opening roads, and transporting supplies... TZ equipment is operating at full capacity, working hard to restore infrastructure and open up life-saving rescue corridors. Meanwhile, emergency relief supplies donated by TZ, including drinking water and instant noodles, have also arrived at the supply distribution center and are being prepared for transport to various resettlement sites.

In winter on the plateau, the air has a low oxygen content, and the freezing weather of minus ten-plus degrees Celsius in the quake zone poses a tremendous challenge to rescue personnel and equipment. At present, rescue work is still proceeding under intense pressure, and TZ will continue to fully cooperate with the local government and relevant departments in carrying out relief work.
In the bitter winter cold, TZ is helping the disaster area rebuild their homes. Stay strong, Dingri!
