Recently, the 100 MW wind power project in Zhanatas, Kazakhstan, constructed by PowerChina Chengdu Engineering Corporation under an EPC contract, and the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant project in Bangladesh, undertaken by the company under EPC plus O&M, were awarded the title of "2024 Overseas Sustainable Infrastructure Special Honor Project."

The 100 MW wind power project in Zhanatas, Kazakhstan, won the award in the low-carbon leadership category. The project was the largest wind farm in Central Asia at the time, greatly alleviating the power shortage in southern Kazakhstan and improving the lives of local residents. Compared with a thermal power plant of the same capacity, it is equivalent to saving 255,000 tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 673,000 tonnes, playing an important demonstrative role for Kazakhstan's environmental protection efforts and decarbonization.

The Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant project in Bangladesh won the award in the green innovation category. The project is Bangladesh's first modern sewage treatment plant and, to date, the largest sewage treatment plant in South Asia. Through leading environmental technologies, it provides sewage treatment services for about 5 million residents in Dhaka's urban area, greatly improving the water environment of Dhaka, contributing to the sustainable development of the ecosystem, and carrying important political, economic and social significance for Bangladesh.

The "2024 Overseas Sustainable Infrastructure Project Call for Entries" was hosted by the China International Contractors Association, aiming to build a good overseas image for enterprises with outstanding ESG practices in overseas projects and to select excellent cases from four dimensions: economic, social, environmental and governance. The receipt of these honors fully affirms Chengdu Engineering Corporation's high-quality services in the overseas new energy and water sectors.
