Temperatures are dropping and the chill is growing. At the construction site of PetroChina Dushanzi Petrochemical Company's Tarim 1.2 million tons/year Phase II Ethylene Project (referred to as the Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project) in the Shangku Industrial Park of Korla, machines are roaring and the scene is bustling with activity. As of October 31, 46 main work items of the project have commenced, with a commencement rate of 65.7%, a project image progress of 23.93%, and a construction progress of 20.84%.

The Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project is a green and low-carbon demonstration project that China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has devoted great efforts to building, in implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instruction to "build a world-leading green and intelligent refining and chemical enterprise." The project uses 100% green electricity, and the comprehensive energy consumption of the ethylene plant is 497.22 kilograms of standard oil per ton. A green and low-carbon demonstration project is being built as a supporting facility, achieving near-zero emissions of wastewater and carbon dioxide.

Since the start of construction, all participating parties have fully focused on the overall goals of mechanical completion by June 30, 2026, and trial operation with feedstock introduction by September 30, 2026, unswervingly building the four major projects of "green and low-carbon demonstration project, 'Six Modernizations' practice-leading project, leading project in domestically produced electrification, and benchmark project in project management," and striving to win the National Quality Engineering Gold Award.

Relying on the Tarim Phase II Ethylene Project, Dushanzi Petrochemical has undertaken industrial demonstration projects and special scientific research studies, actively applied new technologies, new processes, and new equipment, and developed and applied complete sets of high-efficiency carbon capture technology. At the same time, Dushanzi Petrochemical has devoted great efforts to creating "a hundred innovations" to accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces; advanced digital and intelligent transformation to achieve full-chain innovation in the construction process; and strengthened self-management to stimulate new momentum for project construction. As project after project commences on schedule and milestone after milestone is completed on time, a sense of pride arises spontaneously in every builder.

The sky is high and the land is vast, and the tide rises in the East. The chemical industry flagship that Dushanzi Petrochemical has devoted itself to building and that is now beginning to take shape is braving the wind and waves, steadily sailing toward 2026.
