Although the weather has turned cold at the start of winter, the construction site of the Jiangxi Poyang Lake Flood Storage and Detention Area (Fangzhou Xietang) Safety Construction Project in Xinjian District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, remains bustling with activity. To ensure the project is completed with high quality within the specified schedule, construction workers are seizing the golden construction period to accelerate the progress of all construction tasks.
At the construction site, towering large concrete pump trucks and mixer trucks are operating in an intense and orderly manner, continuously pouring concrete into the preset molds, while construction workers closely coordinate alongside, carrying out concrete vibration, troweling and other work to ensure pouring quality.
"Since the project started on August 6 this year, we have completed land acquisition and demolition as well as land use approval procedures. At present, all six construction sub-projects have been fully launched, and we are pouring reinforced concrete base slabs for the flood diversion gate chamber section and the apron section. After the pouring is completed, we will promptly carry out earthwork backfilling to ensure the flood diversion gate is completed before the flood season arrives next year," said Tao Yongjun, director of the project department of the Poyang Lake Flood Storage and Detention Area (Fangzhou Xietang) Safety Construction Project.
It is understood that the safety construction projects for the Zhuhu, Huanghu and Fangzhou Xietang flood storage and detention areas of Poyang Lake in Jiangxi Province are among the 150 major water conservancy projects in China, with a total investment of 1.684 billion yuan. Among them, the Fangzhou Xietang safety construction project involves a total investment of about 450 million yuan and is scheduled for completion in August 2026. Once completed, the project will further enhance the flood control safety capacity of Poyang Lake and even the Yangtze River Basin, and safeguard the lives and property of people in the flood storage and detention areas.
"Next, we will further strengthen the meeting scheduling mechanism and the analysis and assessment mechanism, actively coordinate to resolve the bottlenecks and difficulties in project construction, and make overall arrangements for construction units to make good use of favorable opportunities, so as to solidly and fully advance project construction and strive for early completion of the project and the realization of project benefits," Tao Yongjun said.
