On November 1, with the completion of the last prestressed pipe pile foundation in the west wing area of Foshan Station on the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, it marks the successful completion of all pile foundation construction for the east and west wings of the station. The project is constructed by the Station Building Construction Command of Guangzhou Railway Group and participated by China Railway 25th Bureau Group, laying the foundation for subsequent pile cap construction.

The Foshan Station project of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway, located in the "Heart of Foshan", is a new high-speed railway station built near the original site of Foshan Railway Station in the central urban area of Foshan. With its superior geographical location and convenient transportation, it is one of the main passenger transport hubs of Foshan's "two main and four auxiliary" railway passenger transport hubs.

The project includes the supporting comprehensive transportation hub project designed and implemented in sync with the station building, as well as the Foshan High-Speed Railway Station project of Foshan Metro Line 3, with a total investment of approximately 4.745 billion yuan. Among them, China Railway 25th Bureau Group is mainly responsible for the construction of the main structure of Foshan Station, the construction of production and living buildings, and part of the station building decoration and electromechanical installation work.

"The construction area of the project is located next to Foluo Road in Chancheng District, Foshan City. Part of the area is adjacent to Metro Line 3. The construction site is narrow, with heavy traffic flow around, many construction interferences, developed groundwater system with shallow water levels, and repeated cross-operation with the main line subgrade construction, which places extremely high requirements on project safety control," introduced Zhou Changlei, the project manager.

To ensure the smooth completion of pile foundation construction, the project builders strengthened management from aspects such as construction organization plans, on-site management, and material allocation, and flexibly adjusted construction plans according to actual site conditions.

"The pile foundation closest to the existing Metro Line 3 is only 2.8 meters away, with a pile length of 26 meters. Due to the influence of soft muddy sand layers, conventional rotary drilling construction technology is prone to problems such as hole collapse, hole shrinkage, and hole wall collapse. The project adapted to local conditions, continuously optimized the plan, and decided to use full casing drilling rigs for pile foundations within 6 meters of the metro line, and for the remaining pile foundations, prestressed concrete pipe piles and cast-in-place piles with long steel casing follow-up were used. This is like adding a protective layer outside the pile foundation, reducing the risk of hole collapse and effectively protecting Metro Line 3," said Zhou Changlei. The project also used information management methods to strengthen construction process control, and utilized BIM technology to monitor the construction site in all aspects, providing all-weather monitoring for safe on-site construction.

It is reported that Foshan Station of the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway is an important passenger transport node in the central hub cluster of the Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area. In the future, it can connect with several high-speed railways and integrate into the national high-speed railway network through the Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway.

After the project is completed and opened to traffic, it will be possible to reach the center of Guangzhou in 15 minutes, promoting the direct integration and integrated development of the two trillion-level super city centers of Guangzhou and Foshan, greatly enhancing the communication and connection between the centers of Guangzhou and Foshan and the western Guangdong region, and building the Guangzhou-Foshan pole of the Greater Bay Area with high quality.
