China News Service, October 9 — According to the WeChat public account "Shishuo Xinyu," in August 2024, China's Enterprise Credit Index stood at 157.05 points, with the overall credit level of enterprises remaining stable and showing a trend of steady progress. Specifically, the credit conditions of Chinese enterprises in August exhibited the following characteristics:

National enterprise credit level rises slightly

In August 2024, China's Enterprise Credit Index increased by 0.41 points from July. The reliability, operational, financial, compliance, and regulatory sub-indicators were generally stable. Enterprises withstood the short-term effects of high temperatures and rainy weather and the off-season in some industries, maintaining stable operations and a slight rise in credit levels. The effects of macro policies continued to show, and high-quality development advanced steadily. At the same time, amid an increasingly complex and severe international environment and insufficient domestic demand, risks associated with related enterprises and personnel have risen somewhat, requiring further precautionary measures.

Regional enterprise credit levels show an improving trend

In August 2024, the top five provinces by credit index were Beijing, Anhui, Fujian, Shaanxi, and Zhejiang. Enterprise credit levels in all regions were generally higher than in July. Among them, Jilin, Hainan, and Tianjin saw relatively large month-on-month increases in their credit indices in August, while Henan, Guangdong, and others continued to improve in holdings of intellectual property such as trademarks and patents. Credit levels in North China, East China, Central China, and Northwest China were above the national average. East China's average credit index in August was 159.12, continuing to lead the country, with the momentum for high-quality regional credit development steadily strengthening.

Industry credit levels maintain a balanced and improving trend

In August 2024, the average credit index across industries rose compared with July, and the gap between industries narrowed further. Industry credit levels improved steadily and developed more evenly. Among them, the service sector showed relatively strong growth, with the credit indices of accommodation and catering and of scientific research and technical services rising. The manufacturing index ranked steadily higher for eight consecutive months from February to August this year. The water conservancy, environment, and public facilities management sector continued its recovery momentum, and the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery index rose sharply from the previous month.

Overall, enterprise credit conditions continued to improve in August, maintaining stability while making progress, and the high-quality development of the credit system for market entities advanced solidly. At the same time, it should be noted that unstable and uncertain factors in the external environment are increasing, some problems in development and transformation are still emerging, and sustained economic recovery and improvement still face many difficulties and challenges. The role of credit in empowering high-quality development needs to be further leveraged.
