On October 7, inside the right tube of the Yaling Tunnel on the Meixian–Taibai Expressway in Shaanxi, construction workers were pressing ahead with work.

On October 7, excavation of the Yaling Tunnel—a controlling project and the longest tunnel on the Meixian–Taibai Expressway in Shaanxi—surpassed 8,700 meters. Tunnel construction is nearing completion, with the goal of achieving full breakthrough of both tubes expected by the end of November this year.

The Yaling Tunnel is located in Taochuan Town, Taibai County, Baoji City, and is a major and difficult controlling project. During surveying, technicians found that the tunnel has a maximum burial depth of 413 meters and contains 8 fault fracture zones; the surrounding rock is loose, water inflow is large, geological conditions are highly complex, and construction risks are very high.

To ensure smooth progress, the builders used advanced horizontal drilling, ground-penetrating radar and other equipment to accurately assess the strata and geology at the tunnel face; they adopted a wet-spray process using large concrete spraying manipulators to improve the working environment and enhance concrete construction quality. In addition, the builders fully implemented refined project management, assigned safety, technical and quality management personnel, and exercised full-process control over key construction steps inside the tunnel, including initial support and waterproofing installation.

During the National Day holiday, more than 500 workers stayed at their posts. The left and right tubes of the Yaling Tunnel each advanced nearly 100 meters, ensuring the project's construction schedule.
