Recently, the left line of the Waibian Fuzhong Station–Xifengdao Station section (Wai–Xi section) of Section 11 of the Phase I project of Tianjin Metro Line 7 was successfully tunneled through, marking the achievement of twin-line breakthrough for the project and its entry into the sprint stage of construction.

Tianjin Metro Line 7 is one of the backbone lines of Tianjin's urban transportation, running north-south through the city with a total length of 26.53 km and 21 underground stations, passing through 6 administrative districts. It is Tianjin's first full-line metro project implemented under the PPP model. The construction section of Section 11 consists of one station and one section, namely Xifengdao Station and the Waibian Fuzhong Station–Xifengdao Station section, which is the terminal station of the Phase I project. Once completed and in operation, the project will effectively alleviate traffic congestion in the city's core area, significantly improve the level of urban public transportation, and drive the development of cultural, educational, economic and trade undertakings along the line.

It is reported that during the shield tunneling construction, the project team attached importance to technological innovation and actively introduced the "Ten New Technologies" of the construction industry. To date, a total of 7 major categories and 17 sub-items of new technologies have been introduced and applied, including the application of diaphragm wall and tool-type composite internal bracing technology, automated monitoring technology, and BIM-based on-site construction management information technology. On the basis of the introduction and application of new technologies, and supplemented by refined management and standardized control, the project ultimately overcame a number of construction challenges, providing favorable conditions for shield tunneling and successfully completing the twin-line breakthrough task.
