On September 28, the Bantangling Tunnel on the Yangxin Expressway, invested in and constructed by China Railway Southern Investment and constructed by China Railway Guangzhou Engineering Group, achieved dual-line breakthrough, marking a new breakthrough in the construction of a key control project and laying a solid foundation for promoting the construction process of the Yangxin Expressway with high quality and efficiency.

On September 28, the Bantangling Tunnel on the Yangxin Expressway achieved dual-line breakthrough.

The Yangxin Expressway is located in Yangjiang City and Maoming City, Guangdong Province. It is a component of the "Seven Horizontal" routes in the main skeleton layout of "Twelve Vertical, Eight Horizontal, Two Ring, Sixteen Radial" of the Guangdong Provincial Expressway Network, and is an important corridor from the Beibu Gulf of Guangxi and central western Guangdong to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and eastern Guangdong. The route has a total length of approximately 141.91 kilometers. Among them, Section 1 of Bid 9 of the Yangxin Expressway has a total length of 2.553 kilometers, and its main works cover 5 bridges, 6 subgrade sections, 1 precast beam yard, 1 interchange, and 1 tunnel.

The Bantangling Tunnel breakthrough this time adopts a separated two-way six-lane design, with a left tube length of 1,355 meters and a right tube length of 1,198 meters. In the early stage of construction, the project team faced multiple challenges such as incomplete access roads, unstable communication signals, and insufficient power supply. Through effective communication and negotiation with the local government, these obstacles were quickly overcome, making the tunnel the first project on the entire line to start tunnel excavation.

On September 28, the Bantangling Tunnel on the Yangxin Expressway achieved dual-line breakthrough.

To ensure normal excavation of the Bantangling Tunnel, the project team adapted measures to local conditions by planning in advance, scientifically managing, and reasonably allocating production factors such as labor, materials, and machinery, ensuring timely material supply and smooth equipment coordination. During construction, the project team strictly adhered to the principles of "weak blasting, advanced pipe forepoling, short advance, strong support, early closure, and frequent measurement," implemented tunnel advanced geological forecasting, monitoring and measurement, and dynamic design, and strictly controlled tunnel overbreak and underbreak, ensuring smooth progress of tunnel construction. In the face of the technical difficulties of slow progress and difficult construction in weak surrounding rock of a deep-buried tunnel, the project team organized technical personnel in advance to conduct on-site exploration of the geology and topography at the tunnel exit end, carefully prepared and demonstrated a special construction plan for deep-buried weak surrounding rock, and effectively responded to these difficulties and challenges through measures such as optimizing excavation technology, innovating support design, strengthening groundwater control, and enhancing safety management and risk control, ensuring the safety, quality, and progress of tunnel construction and providing safety assurance for the smooth breakthrough.

After the Yangxin Expressway is completed and opened to traffic, it will be of great significance for improving the Guangdong provincial expressway network, enhancing the radiating and driving role of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on western Guangdong, improving regional transportation conditions, and promoting coordinated economic development of areas along the route.
