Recently, the Kahaluo Jinsha River Bridge, which connects Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, was successfully closed, marking a key step toward its completion and opening to traffic. The Kahaluo Jinsha River Bridge starts and ends at the junction of Kahaluo Township in Sichuan Province and Huanghua Town in Yunnan Province. The bridge has a total length of 1,818.53 meters, of which the main bridge is 1,030 meters long. This bridge is a major project under the national "Belt and Road" strategy and an important livelihood project for poverty alleviation and prosperity in the Wumeng Mountain area and the Yi ethnic minority inhabited areas of the Greater and Lesser Liangshan Mountains.

In 2021, Shanghai Yuanyang participated in the construction of the Sichuan-side anchorage of the Kahaluo Jinsha River Bridge. The anchorage of this project adopted a world-first technique, applying the "diaphragm wall frame foundation" method to the construction of the gravity-load-bearing anchorage structure of the bridge. Through the all-out efforts of the project team, Shanghai Yuanyang innovatively completed this arduous task, laying a solid "foundation" for this suspension bridge.
The diaphragm wall frame foundation of this project adopted a new special rigid joint treatment technique, realizing full-direction connection of the diaphragm wall for the first time. Conventional joints mainly serve a water-stop function, whereas this new type of joint needs to connect two wall panels into part of the frame foundation, enabling the entire frame foundation to form an integrated whole to resist the traction force brought by the main cables, which places extremely high demands on construction quality. Because it was a pioneering technique, there was no prior experience to learn from. After repeated testing and verification by the Shanghai Yuanyang project team, specially made joint boxes were adopted, making the joint boxes fit perfectly with the "K"-shaped joints, ensuring joint quality and guaranteeing subsequent joint construction. In addition, to support the implementation of the new special rigid joint treatment technique, this construction required the fabrication of special "T"-shaped and "L"-shaped reinforcement cages, with special fabrication techniques and extremely high processing difficulty. During the early exploratory stage of construction, fabricating a single irregular reinforcement cage even took 3 days. The project team continuously summarized experience and sought fabrication techniques, eventually achieving fabrication of the most difficult "T"-shaped reinforcement cages within two days. Because the joints between each pair of adjacent wall panels needed to be connected, the positioning requirements for the horizontal reinforcement during reinforcement cage fabrication were also extremely high. To successfully overcome this challenge, the project department assigned dedicated personnel to strictly control the dimensions of the horizontal reinforcement and to strictly control the planar position and elevation of the reinforcement cages during lowering, ensuring that the joints between each pair of wall panels could be connected in place, thereby guaranteeing joint quality and further ensuring the overall quality of the project. After half a year of arduous struggle by Shanghai Yuanyang, a premium project was successfully delivered to the client, laying a solid foundation for the construction of the Kahaluo Bridge.
The industry entrusted Shanghai Yuanyang with the important task of constructing this world-first technique, which is recognition of Shanghai Yuanyang's construction track record and achievements, trust in Shanghai Yuanyang's construction capability, technical strength, and talent pool, and affirmation of Shanghai Yuanyang's leading position in the field of diaphragm wall construction. Shanghai Yuanyang has repaid the industry's trust with its solid construction strength.
Once the Kahaluo Jinsha River Bridge is completed and opened to traffic, the travel time from Kahaluo Township in Sichuan to Huanghua Town in Yunnan will be reduced from the original 5 hours to 5 minutes, greatly improving transportation efficiency between the two places, promoting economic and cultural exchanges between Sichuan and Yunnan provinces, facilitating residents' travel, and improving residents' quality of life.
