Recently, Professor Liu Hanlong, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Biogeotechnics and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor Xiao Yang, Executive Associate Editor of the journal and recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, among others, were honored with the 2024 "Prix Fredlund Award" conferred by the Canadian Geotechnical Society. This is their second time receiving this recognition, following their "Fredlund Award" in 2023. The award is named after the internationally renowned geotechnical scholar and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering Delwyn G. Fredlund, and recognizes the most-cited article published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal over the past five years; since its establishment in 2018, only one article worldwide has been selected each year.

　　This award primarily recognizes their paper published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal, titled "Effect of relative density and biocementation on cyclic response of calcareous sand (Xiao P., Liu H., Stuedlein A. W., Evans T. M., and Xiao Y. Can. Geotech. J., 2019, 56(12): 1849-1862)." The first author of the paper is Dr. Xiao Peng, a graduate of the team, and the corresponding author is Professor Xiao Yang; the other co-authors include Academician Liu Hanlong, Armin W. Stuedlein, and T. Matthew Evans.
