On August 29, after 546 days of intensive effort, the Jiangjiashan Tunnel of the Xiangyang-Jingmen Railway was successfully holed through. With this, all long tunnels on the Xiangyang-Jingmen Railway have been safely completed. As one of the key and difficult control projects of the entire line, the breakthrough of this tunnel has laid a solid foundation for the smooth advancement of the overall construction schedule of the Xiangyang-Jingmen Railway.

The Jiangjiashan Tunnel is a single-tube double-track tunnel with a total length of 2,646.25 meters, designed for a speed of 350 km/h, and a maximum burial depth of approximately 241.09 meters. The geological conditions in the tunnel area are complex, with the tunnel passing through multiple zones of strongly developed karst, fault fracture zones, shallow-buried sections, and other unfavorable geological conditions. Construction is technically difficult, with many uncontrollable factors and high safety risks; at the same time, the tunnel lies on the critical path for girder erection, resulting in significant schedule pressure.
To ensure the tunnel was holed through safely, smoothly, and on schedule, the project team exercised strict control over multiple aspects including construction organization, technical plans, on-site resource allocation, personnel performance, the self-control system of the construction section, and safety assurance measures, with key focus on critical construction processes. In the face of complex and variable surrounding rock conditions, the project team dynamically adjusted its plans and formulated targeted measures for unfavorable construction conditions such as karst, faults, and shallow burial, effectively ensuring construction safety and minimizing the impact of unfavorable geology on the schedule.
To ensure construction efficiency remained stable and up to standard, the project team organized and carried out documentation of tunnel construction processes, employing methods such as on-site monitoring, process recording and statistics, calculation and analysis of excavation advance and cycle times, and analysis of process execution and transition durations. They analyzed, cycle by cycle and process by process, the deficiencies in on-site resource allocation, construction organization, and on-site management, and formulated targeted countermeasures. This effectively improved the smoothness of process transitions, precisely optimized the process rhythm, and achieved progress indicators exceeding those specified in the construction organization plan. At the same time, the site innovatively applied the construction technique of "micro-bench multi-function trolley-assisted two-bench excavation method," which both ensured safety and quality and accelerated construction progress, ensuring the tunnel was holed through on schedule.
It is reported that after the Xiangyang-Jingmen High-Speed Railway is completed and opened to traffic, it will connect with the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-Speed Railway and the Yangtze River Coastal High-Speed Railway at Jingmen West Station, achieving one-hour connectivity between Xiangyang and Jingmen. This is of great significance for building a two-hour high-speed rail living circle in Hubei Province, improving the Yangtze River Coastal High-Speed Railway network, creating an ecological tourism circle in western Hubei, and serving the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
