China Deep Foundation Engineering News From August 30 to 31, 2024, the Foundation College successfully completed the fourth course of its first Advanced Training Flagship Program. The two-day schedule was compact and rich, and the participants gained a lot from learning and exchange.

On the morning of August 30, under the organization of the Foundation College staff, the participants visited the State Key Laboratory of Building Safety and Environment. Established in 2011, the laboratory is an important research institution in China's civil engineering and construction field. It is affiliated with the China Academy of Building Research and focuses on research in building safety and environment. The laboratory is fully equipped and includes several specialized laboratories, such as the largest building seismic laboratory in China, the building wind tunnel laboratory, and the building fire laboratory, making significant contributions to technological progress and professional talent development in China's construction industry.

During the visit, the participants gained in-depth experience of the functions of the building wind tunnel laboratory, building fire laboratory, building materials laboratory, building seismic laboratory, building environment and building energy efficiency laboratory, and building curtain wall and door/window laboratory, greatly enriching their theoretical knowledge and practical understanding.

In the afternoon, the participants visited Beijing Vibroflotation Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd. for exchange and learning. Vibroflotation Machinery evolved from the research and development team for the localization of vibroflot equipment organized by the former Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power. After more than 40 years of dedicated research and market cultivation, it has grown into a well-known enterprise in China's foundation treatment industry. The company has not only participated in the construction of national key projects such as the Three Gorges Dam and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, but also occupies a pivotal position in the domestic market.

In order to conduct in-depth research on the vibroflotation method, the China Foundation Engineering Technology Innovation Intellectual Property Alliance, with Vibroflotation Machinery as the supporting unit, decided to establish a research association in this specialized field—the "Vibroflotation Method Research Association." During this event, the alliance awarded a plaque to Vibroflotation Machinery, marking active cooperation between the two parties in promoting innovation and application of the vibroflotation method.

Subsequently, the participants visited the equipment experimental base of Vibroflotation Machinery and observed on-site demonstrations of a series of complete vibroflotation equipment sets. Technical personnel explained in detail the operating principles and application examples of each piece of equipment and construction method. The Foundation College and Vibroflotation Machinery joined forces to authorize this base as the "Foundation College Vibroflotation Method Training Base," which will provide a broader platform for technical research and talent training for both parties.

On August 31, the highlight of the course was delivered by Researcher Liu Jinbo from the Institute of Foundation Engineering, China Academy of Building Research. The course topic was "Pile Foundation Codes and the Pile Foundation Market." Researcher Liu Jinbo explained in simple terms the relationship between pile foundation codes and the market, the main contents of pile foundation codes and their practical applications, the handling of pile foundation quality issues, the optimized design of foundation engineering, and the future outlook of the pile foundation market, guiding participants to think about and respond to current challenges and opportunities in the industry. In addition, Researcher Liu Jinbo shared research on overseas geotechnical engineering markets, giving participants a deeper understanding of international market dynamics. In class, participants actively asked questions and engaged in lively discussions, fully demonstrating their strong interest in industry development.

This course not only provided participants with a platform for exchanging theoretical knowledge and practical experience, but also deepened their close connection with the industry's frontier fields.
