On August 30, the pre-initial-operation safety assessment meeting for Suzhou Metro Line 8 concluded.

After a four-day expert assessment, the expert panel unanimously agreed that Suzhou Metro Line 8 has passed the pre-initial-operation safety assessment, meets the GoA4 requirements for fully automated operation, and can be put into initial passenger operation. This was also the last major "exam" before the opening of Metro Line 8.

In May this year, Suzhou Metro Line 8 passed the project acceptance, and then passed the completion acceptance in late August. According to the plan, it will be opened for operation before the end of September.

Suzhou Metro Line 8 has a total length of 35.6 kilometers, starting at Xijinqiao Station in Suzhou High-tech Zone and ending at Chefang Station in Suzhou Industrial Park. The line has 28 stations in total, including 12 transfer stations, connecting multiple urban centers such as Suzhou High-tech Zone, Gusu District, Xiangcheng District, and the Industrial Park.

Suzhou Metro Line 8 is a backbone line on the outskirts of the ancient city running from northwest to southeast, and is also an intercity passenger flow collection and distribution line.

After opening, Metro Line 8 will achieve same-platform transfer with Line 3 at Xijinqiao Station and Tangzhuang Station, forming a "combined loop" in the network. Together they will give play to the combined loop function of the network, create the "loop line era" of Suzhou Metro, and further facilitate public travel.
