To ensure a stable water supply during the 2024 summer peak and guarantee the safe and steady operation of the urban water supply, thereby meeting the water demand of urban residents, the urban water supply authorities and enterprises in Chongqing Municipality have adopted multiple measures, continuously implementing and refining various water supply safeguard measures to firmly fortify the "lifeline" of urban water supply.

"Since July, we have established a daily and weekly reporting mechanism for urban water supply so as to promptly grasp the operating load of each water plant," said the relevant person in charge of the center. As early as February this year, a survey of raw water sources for urban water supply was carried out; at present, Chongqing Municipality has an adequate supply of raw water for urban water supply. Since August, the urban water supply of Chongqing Municipality has remained at a relatively high level. On August 23, the total urban water supply in the central urban area reached its peak for the year, and domestic water use for urban residents remained normal and stable.

To ensure the safety of urban water supply, the Chongqing Municipal Urban Management Bureau has strictly implemented water quality supervision and random inspection. From July to August, the bureau carried out a cumulative 23 plant-times of water quality random inspections, with the comprehensive water quality qualification rate exceeding the national standard; it organized experts to provide specialized technical services on issues such as water quality and secondary water supply management, safeguarding water supply quality during the summer high-temperature period, and urged the competent urban water supply departments of all districts and counties to step up water quality supervision and inspection.
