According to People's Daily, under the direction of on-site workers, a 32.6-meter box girder produced by the Baohui Girder Fabrication Yard of Section 2 of the Shanghai-Nanjing portion of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway (Huyurong High-Speed Railway), operated by China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group, was steadily lowered onto the Shanghai Grand Bridge of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway — the first box girder produced by Asia's largest high-speed railway girder fabrication yard has been successfully erected, marking that the Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway has officially entered the bridge girder erection stage, and that the project has made major progress. See details below↓

"The first box girder erected this time is 32.6 meters long and weighs 683.3 tons, and was erected using an MG450T girder-lifting machine," introduced Ma Tengyue, yard director of the Baohui Girder Fabrication Yard of Section 2 of the Shanghai-Nanjing portion of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, China Railway No. 4 Engineering Group. The Baohui Girder Fabrication Yard, which produced the girder, covers an area of 370 mu and is mainly responsible for the prefabrication of a total of 1,696 box girders for pre-station Sections I to II of the Shanghai-Nanjing portion of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and pre-station Section III of Phase II of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway. It is the largest girder fabrication yard on the entire line and currently the largest high-speed railway girder fabrication yard in Asia. The yard has two production lines, with a total of 22 girder fabrication pedestals and 154 girder storage pedestals, and features a large construction volume, many types of girders, complex construction system conversion, and high demand for intelligent operations.

The newly built Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei High-Speed Railway is the eastern section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and an important component of the Yangtze River high-speed railway corridor of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. It undertakes the transport of main network passenger flows along the Yangtze River corridor and part of the through passenger flows to Shanghai from the coastal and Beijing-Shanghai corridors, with a total length of about 2,100 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. Among them, pre-station Section 2 of the Shanghai-Nanjing portion of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway is located within Baoshan District and Jiading District of Shanghai, with a total length of 11.68 kilometers. Its main construction content includes the bridges of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-Speed Railway and Phase II of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway, the subgrade of Xuhang Station, the Baoshan EMU Depot, box girder prefabrication and erection, and track-laying works.

After the project is completed, it will establish a new rapid corridor among the Shanghai metropolitan area, the Nanjing metropolitan area, and the Hefei metropolitan area, and is of great significance for optimizing the layout of the railway network in the Yangtze River region, serving the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promoting high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
