On August 25, the No. 2 Shaoloupo Tunnel, the last tunnel of the existing line renovation and related works at Suining Station of the newly built Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou Railway undertaken by China Railway No. 10 Engineering Group, was successfully holed through. This marks that the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway Suining Station project has achieved a phased result, transitioning from substructure works to track-laying works.

The No. 2 Shaoloupo Tunnel is located near Ma'an Village, Yongxing Town, Chuanshan District, Suining City, with a total length of 209 m. The strata the tunnel passes through are mainly sandy mudstone of the Upper Jurassic Suining Formation (J3S), which softens easily when exposed to water. In addition, rainfall is frequent in the central Sichuan region, making collapse and roof fall prone to occur during construction. During the construction process, the project team made careful plans, rationally organized personnel and equipment, optimized the construction scheme, carried out meticulous operations, and strictly followed technical disclosures in every procedure, ensuring the successful holing-through of the No. 2 Shaoloupo Tunnel.

The Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway is an important component of the Yangtze River corridor of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network. Once completed, it will greatly improve the transportation infrastructure conditions along the line, shorten the time-space distance between various places along the line and central cities such as Chengdu in the region, accelerate the flow of people, information, and capital, and have positive significance for solving the problem of "difficult roads in Sichuan," promoting high-quality and coordinated regional economic development, and further advancing the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
