Lanzhou, August 26 (Report) — The Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park in Lanzhou New Area, Gansu, shines like a brilliant pearl. With its unique geographical location and advanced logistics system, it is steadily becoming a commercial and trade logistics hub connecting the world. As the Belt and Road Initiative deepens, Lanzhou has leapt from an inland hinterland to the forefront of opening up.

　　Relying on the Majiaping–Zhongchuan–Zhujiayao railway and the main lines of the Baotou–Lanzhou and Lanzhou–Xinjiang railways, the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park is a modern commercial and trade logistics industrial park in Lanzhou New Area featuring multimodal transport by air, rail, sea and road. It is a national multimodal transport demonstration project and an auxiliary hub of the national Lanzhou land-port logistics hub, and a new highland for Gansu Province's westward opening up.

　　"As an important auxiliary hub of the logistics hub, the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park bears the heavy responsibility of promoting regional economic development," said Yan Peixi, head of the Business Management Department of the Land Port Company of Gansu Logistics Group. He introduced that the park is a road-rail multimodal modern logistics park listed as a key construction project of Lanzhou New Area during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and the international freight train support base of the second batch of national multimodal transport demonstration projects.

　　In its operations, the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park has actively expanded economic and trade cooperation with Belt and Road countries and regions. On May 8, 2019, the designated supervision site for imported grain at Zhongchuan North Station of the Lanzhou railway port passed the assessment and acceptance of the General Administration of Customs. At present, the import of Kazakh grain has been carried out on a regular basis, greatly solving the difficulty of gathering cargo for the return trains of Central Asia and China-Europe international freight services.

　　Since the "Lanzhou" international freight train made its maiden departure from the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park in Lanzhou New Area in July 2015, it has achieved regular operation. Yan Peixi said that the park has given full play to the platform effects of the Northwest International Timber Trading Center and the designated supervision site for imported grain, flexibly applied various government industrial development support and reward policies, and continuously attracted cargo sources and organized train departures on the basis of deepening the international train markets for timber, flaxseed and other goods.

　　Up to now, the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park has handled a total of 1,010 train arrivals and departures, including 794 arrivals and 216 departures, covering China-Europe and Central Asia international trains; the park has achieved a cumulative cargo throughput of 16.5241 million tons, with railway arrivals and departures of 8.6508 million tons. Yan Peixi said that these figures fully demonstrate the strong strength and important role of the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park in the field of commercial and trade logistics.

　　"International freight trains from Lanzhou New Area to Central Asia, Europe and South Asia converge here," Yan Peixi said. Through this platform, Lanzhou New Area has carried out economic and trade cooperation with nearly 40 countries including Russia and Germany, and products of nearly 20 local enterprises are sold to the United States, Europe, Central and West Asia and other countries and regions.

　　On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Lanzhou New Area's approval as a state-level new area, the "Amazing Gansu" international online communication event visited the Zhongchuan North Station Logistics Park in Lanzhou New Area. Through interviews and visits, participants learned how Lanzhou, which has neither sea nor border, has broken through geographical constraints and continuously expanded space for external exchanges and cooperation, setting sail overseas through one opening-up platform after another.
