The Zhen'an Tunnel has a total length of 4,458 meters, and its construction faces numerous challenges, the most prominent of which are the complex geological conditions. The tunnel geology consists mainly of weak surrounding rock, and the tunnel crown is covered by a natural surface gully, with shallow-buried sections. In addition, the tunnel portal site is narrow and cross-operation is frequent, all of which greatly increase construction difficulty.

Facing these challenges, the project team adopted a series of innovative measures to improve construction efficiency. The construction unit introduced advanced large-scale mechanized equipment such as rock drilling jumbos and arch installation jumbos, significantly improving construction efficiency and reducing safety risks. At the same time, an "Innovation Studio" was established to tackle technical difficulties, actively exploring and applying new technologies and new processes to reduce process transition time, thereby successfully breaking through the 1,000-meter mark in tunnel excavation while ensuring safety and quality.

The Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway is an important component of China's "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network, specifically the Beijing-Kunming corridor (Jingkun Corridor) and the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou corridor (Bao (Yin) Hai Corridor). Once completed, it will further improve the road network structure in the central and western regions, greatly facilitate travel for the people along the route, and be of great significance for consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation, comprehensively advancing rural revitalization, promoting urban-rural integration and coordinated regional development, and shaping a new pattern of large-scale development of the western region.
