Recently, the right tube of the Shaojiatang Tunnel, a key control project of the G30 Lianyungang–Khorgas Expressway Qingshuiyi–Zhonghe Section capacity expansion and reconstruction project undertaken by Gansu Road and Bridge Construction Group, was successfully holed through, marking a phased victory for this major infrastructure construction project.

The right tube of the Shaojiatang Tunnel has a total length of 2,242 meters and is designed as a three-lane, large-cross-section loess expressway tunnel. The tunnel site is located in a loess hilly and gully region; the overlying stratum is Upper Pleistocene aeolian loess, the underlying stratum is Upper Pleistocene alluvial loess, and the tunnel locally passes through loose sandstone layers. Grade V surrounding rock accounts for 100% of the tunnel, of which the loose sandstone section is 855 meters, accounting for 19.21% of the tunnel's total length.

It is understood that, in the face of complex geological conditions and harsh construction environments, the builders organized carefully and constructed scientifically, overcoming technical difficulties and controlling quality details. Excavation, support, and lining operations were carried out strictly in accordance with the principles of "short advance, short bench, strong support, early ring closure, and timely secondary lining," further enhancing construction safety. A mechanized cluster operation mode was adopted, and new equipment and technologies—including advanced geological radar scanning of the surrounding rock at the tunnel face, advanced horizontal high-pressure jet grouting piles for construction in the sandstone section, and the loess micro-bench construction method—were introduced for technological research,  effectively improving construction quality and progress.

At present, the right tube of the Shaojiatang Tunnel, a control project of the project, has been successfully holed through; the left tube has accumulated 1,426 meters of excavation, with 782 meters remaining. Ancillary works on the right tube, such as cable trenches and concrete pavement, will be completed by the end of the year.
