On August 20, the exit portal of the Wuxing No. 2 Tunnel on the Guizhou section of the Huangtong–Baise Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Huang-Bai Railway) was successfully broken through, marking the tunnel's entry into the main construction phase and further accelerating tunnel construction across the entire line.

According to reports, the Wuxing No. 2 Tunnel has a total length of 3,002 meters and is designed for a speed of 160 km/h; it is a National Railway Class I electrified mixed passenger and freight railway. The elevation difference between the entrance and exit of the Wuxing No. 2 Tunnel is 35.6 meters, with a maximum burial depth of 275 meters. According to the construction organization plan, the Wuxing No. 2 Tunnel is constructed from two working faces, the entrance and the exit, using the two-bench method.

During excavation, the project team adhered to the construction philosophy of "high-standard planning, high-standard construction, and high-efficiency construction," meticulously organizing on-site construction and systematically arranging the orderly operation of various types of machinery and equipment. They implemented the "three-inspection system" in a thorough and detailed manner for each process, carried out grid-based monitoring and control of tunnel excavation, and adopted multiple measures simultaneously to ensure the quality and safety of the tunnel construction.

According to reports, the Huang-Bai Railway starts from Huangtong Station in Puding County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, passes through Zhenning, Ziyun, and Wangmo in Guizhou and Leye and Lingyun in Guangxi, and connects to Baise Station. The main line has a total length of approximately 315 kilometers and a design speed of 160 km/h; it is a National Class I electrified railway with a construction period of 5 years. The Guizhou section's main line is approximately 173 kilometers long, with 74 new bridges and 43 tunnels, giving a bridge-tunnel ratio of 81.6%.

It is reported that the Huang-Bai Railway is a key section of the western corridor of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. It connects to the Shanghai–Kunming Railway to the north and the Nanning–Kunming Railway to the south. Once completed, it will provide Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and other southwestern provinces and regions with a trunk transport corridor to the Beibu Gulf region that features shorter transport distances, better efficiency, shorter travel times, and broader benefits.
