Recently, the Quanzhou Jinjiang Tunnel project has made **progress. As the **cross-river tunnel soon to be built in Quanzhou, its completion will shorten the travel distance from the Donghai cluster to the Jindong cluster by 5 kilometers and save 10 minutes of travel time. The project's conceptual budget review has recently been completed, with bidding scheduled to open on September 5, meaning it is one step closer to official construction.

The Jinjiang Tunnel is located at the Jinjiang estuary of Quanzhou Bay and is scheduled to officially break ground within 2024. The tunnel starts at the intersection of Jinjiang No. 3 Road and the Coastal Avenue, crosses the Jinjiang River, and ends in the north connecting Donghai Jing 14th Road and Fenghai Road, with a total length of about 3 kilometers, of which 1.2 kilometers is the sea-crossing section. The tunnel will be built to the standard of a Class I highway combined with an urban arterial road, with dual eight-lane carriageways on the main line and a design speed of 60 kilometers per hour. Once completed, it will not only further shorten the distance between Donghai and Jindong but also promote the integrated development of both banks.
