On August 16, the shield tunnel on the left line of the section from Xingcun Station (all names below are project names) to Youth Political College Station of Jinan Rail Transit Line 8 was successfully completed. This section set the fastest record for shield construction in the same stratum in Jinan, achieving breakthrough one month ahead of schedule.

The completed Xing-Qing section is about 1,700 meters long. The geology along the section is complex and variable, with uneven rock hardness that can easily cause abnormal tool wear, making construction highly difficult. In addition, the section successively passes beneath the Zhongtiecheng pedestrian overpass, the Tu River, the Gangxi interchange ramp bridge, crosses over Rail Transit Line 4, and passes beneath the Liugong River and other risk sources. The construction environment is complex, placing high demands on the control of shield tunneling parameters.

To successfully achieve the section breakthrough goal, the Line 8 construction project department of Jinan Rail Transit Group implemented the city's "Project Deepening Year" requirements and the group's "speed-up and efficiency improvement" deployment for project construction, and worked with all participating units to scientifically formulate construction plans and schemes and strengthen safety and quality control. The construction unit, CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co., Ltd., organized construction scientifically. In the face of poor geological conditions, shield machine tools were inspected and replaced frequently to reduce the risk of unplanned downtime. During the crossing of risk sources, full preparations were made and the scheme was optimized. Following the principles of "continuous construction, steady-speed passage, strict parameter control, and full grouting," the major risk source of crossing over the Line 4 tunnel achieved "zero settlement." At the same time, resource input was increased, and management personnel and labor teams with strong professional capabilities and rich construction experience were assigned, achieving seamless connection of all construction links. The fastest tunneling rate reached 33 meters per day, setting the fastest record for shield construction in the same stratum in Jinan.

Next, the Line 8 construction project department will work with all participating units to continue strengthening refined management, detailing construction plans, optimizing resource input, strictly controlling safety and quality, advancing the remaining shield construction, and helping accelerate the construction of Line 8.
