On August 11, the right tube of the Wangle Tunnel on the Wuyun-Kai Expressway was successfully holed through. With this, all 21 tunnels along the entire Wuyun-Kai Expressway have been holed through, laying a solid foundation for ensuring that the 50-kilometer Kaizhou–Shashi section meets the conditions for opening to traffic by the end of September this year and striving for the entire line to meet the conditions for opening to traffic by the end of the year.

The Wuyun-Kai Expressway is the 33rd link in the "Four Rings, Twenty-Two Radials, Sixty Connectors" of the Chongqing Municipal Expressway Network Plan. The project starts at Wuxi County seat, where the Wuxi Hub connects with the Fengxi Expressway; passes through Yunyang County, where the Jiangkou Hub intersects with the under-construction Jianglong Expressway; and ends in Kaizhou District, where the Kaizhou Hub connects with the Chengkai Expressway. The route has a total length of 118.62 kilometers. As of August, the overall progress of the Wuyun-Kai Expressway has reached 90%; 85 of the 86 mainline bridges along the entire line have been erected; all 21 tunnels along the entire line have been holed through; and subsequent works such as pavement, building construction, electromechanical systems, traffic safety facilities, and landscaping are being accelerated on schedule while maintaining quality.

The Wuyun-Kai Expressway is a major municipal project of Chongqing and an important transportation artery supporting the comprehensive advancement of rural revitalization in Northeast Chongqing. Once completed, it will link tourist attractions such as Hongchiba, Xuebaoshan, Hanfeng Lake, Longgang, Daning Ancient City, and Zhangfei Temple, greatly improving transportation conditions for more than 3 million people in townships along the route.
