Beijing, August 12 (Xinhua) — With the successful completion of the 2023–2024 Yellow River water volume scheduling work, on August 12 the Yellow River achieved uninterrupted flow for 25 consecutive years since 1999.

　　In the 2023–2024 period, the Ministry of Water Resources fully implemented the Yellow River Protection Law and the Regulations on Yellow River Water Volume Scheduling, earnestly practiced the principle of "defining water by water, land by water, people by water, and production by water," adopted multiple measures and precise policies, and continuously strengthened unified scheduling of Yellow River water volumes. It overcame unfavorable conditions such as below-normal inflow and successfully completed all scheduling targets, providing strong support for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The Ministry of Water Resources approved and issued on schedule the "Plan for the Distribution of Available Yellow River Water Consumption and Non-Flood-Season Water Volume Scheduling from July 2023 to June 2024," prepared monthly and ten-day water volume scheduling plans on a rolling basis, scientifically operated key reservoirs such as Xiaolangdi to achieve coordinated multi-objective scheduling, and promptly published the "List of Persons Responsible for 2023–2024 Yellow River Water Volume Scheduling" to clarify water volume scheduling responsibilities.

　　The Ministry of Water Resources strengthened total-volume control and scheduling oversight, urging all provinces and relevant units to strictly implement annual scheduling plans, scheduling schemes, and real-time scheduling instructions to ensure orderly progress in water volume scheduling. In the current year, the Yellow River mainstem supplied a cumulative total of 23.277 billion cubic meters of water, and the total water use of all provinces did not exceed the allocation targets in the annual scheduling plan. In addition, the Ministry of Water Resources strengthened supervision of ecological flow in key rivers; the ecological flow guarantee rates at major control sections of key rivers all met standards, effectively safeguarding basic ecological water use in river channels; and it implemented ecological water replenishment in key areas to promote regional ecological restoration and improvement.

　　Next, the Ministry of Water Resources will further strengthen unified scheduling of the basin's main and tributary streams, improve scheduling levels and management capabilities, safeguard the health of the Yellow River, and provide stronger water security guarantees for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
