Shanghai will accelerate the Phase II container terminal renovation project in the Luojing Port Area and major port construction projects such as the development of the north side of Xiaoyangshan. This was announced on August 7 at the opening ceremony of Phase I of the Luojing Container Port Area of the Shanghai International Shipping Center.
　　In the first half of this year, the Port of Shanghai handled a total container throughput of 25.51 million TEUs, up 7.5% year on year. However, the shortage of terminal resources has always constrained the further development of the Port of Shanghai.
　　In the future, Shanghai will take digitalization, intelligentization and green development as the main thrust, and be guided by improving efficiency, expanding functions and increasing momentum, to open up new space for the high-quality development of the Port of Shanghai and future container volume growth, align with the strategic blueprint of building a sound Shanghai International Shipping Center, create a new generation of smart and green ports, and make new and greater contributions to serving the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and building China into a shipping powerhouse.
