On August 3, the Qiaoqiling Tunnel of Section 5 in front of the Xiong'an-Xinzhou High-Speed Railway station was successfully holed through. This is the second tunnel holed through within the section, laying a solid foundation for the steady progress of the Xiong'an-Xinzhou High-Speed Railway.

The Qiaoqiling Tunnel is located in Fuping County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, with a total length of 685.33 meters and a maximum buried depth of approximately 107.28 meters. It is designed for a train speed of 350 km/h and is a single-tube double-track tunnel. At the exit portal, the headwall slope is steep and gullies are developed, posing risks of landslides and rockfalls. Meanwhile, the terrain at the exit end is steep and complex and connects to a bridge, making the construction procedures complicated and the construction risk high.

Facing complex construction conditions, the project team studied and formulated technical plans suited to actual conditions, optimized the excavation method, improved the holing-through scheme, adopted the benching method and the covered-arch mined method for construction, and strictly implemented the principles of "advance detection, advanced pipe forepoling, short advance per round, weak blasting, strong support, rapid sealing, and frequent measurement," successfully overcoming the construction difficulties of shallow cover, developed gullies, and broken and fractured surrounding rock joints. During construction, a dual prevention mechanism of risk classification control and hidden danger investigation and governance was comprehensively established, effectively moving the threshold forward, treating at the source, and preventing in advance, thereby ensuring construction safety.

Based on the actual situation of the project, management measures for construction work teams, assessment and management measures for overbreak and underbreak, assessment and management measures for management personnel, and progress assessment measures were formulated, with responsibility systems clarified and milestone schedules set. At the same time, the project adhered to the "one post, two responsibilities" system, implemented the leadership shift supervision system, closely tracked construction progress, and strictly standardized management, promoting on-site safety and quality management from a high starting point and to high standards, and providing strong guarantees for the safe and smooth holing-through of the Qiaoqiling Tunnel.
