August 7 (Xinhua) — According to the website of the Ministry of Finance, in response to the severe floods and geological disasters that struck Northeast China, Sichuan-Chongqing, Hunan, Shaanxi and other regions, on August 6 the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management once again pre-allocated 465 million yuan in central natural disaster relief funds to support emergency rescue and relief work in seven provinces (municipalities) — Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan and Shaanxi — so as to properly resettle affected people, minimize disaster losses, and restore normal production and living order in the disaster areas as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Finance required the finance departments (bureaus) of the relevant provinces (municipalities) to promptly allocate the funds to the disaster areas, to keep abreast of the arrangements for and needs of emergency rescue funds in the disaster areas, and to take measures to ensure full support; to effectively strengthen supervision of disaster relief funds, resolutely eliminate violations such as fund retention, misappropriation and diversion, and ensure that all disaster relief funds are used for the disaster areas and the affected people.
