The construction of the Longchang–Xuyong section of the Longhuang Railway is progressing in an orderly manner.

On August 5, it was learned that the Xinjiangmen No. 2 Tunnel of the capacity expansion and renovation project of the Longchang–Xuyong section of the Longhuang Railway, a backbone corridor project of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, has been successfully holed through, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of subsequent track-laying and girder-erection work.

The Xinjiangmen No. 2 Tunnel is located in Yongsheng Village, Jiangmen Town, Xuyong County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. It has a total length of 1,291 meters and a maximum burial depth of approximately 165.2 meters, and is a single-track tunnel.

The capacity expansion and renovation project of the Longchang–Xuyong section of the Longhuang Railway starts from Longchang Station on the Chengdu–Chongqing Railway in the north, passes through Longchang City and Luxian County, Longmatan District, Jiangyang District, Naxi District and Xuyong County of Luzhou City, crosses the Tuojiang River and the Yangtze River successively, and ends at Xuyong North Station in the south. The project has a total length of 138.6 kilometers, a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and 11 stations. Previous information shows that since the start of construction, the project has been steadily advancing. Up to now, 20 of the 23 tunnels along the entire line have been holed through, with a holing-through progress of nearly 90 percent, and the remaining works such as civil works, the "four electrics" (communication, signaling, power supply and electrification), and building construction are proceeding in an orderly manner.

It is reported that the capacity expansion and renovation project of the Longchang–Xuyong section of the Longhuang Railway is led in investment and construction by Shudao Railway Investment Group, and the project is a backbone corridor of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. The New Western Land-Sea Corridor has three routes in total; the corridor on which this project lies starts from Chengdu and is the shortest and the lowest in transport cost among the three. After completion, the project will connect with the already operational Xuyong–Bijie section of the Longhuang Railway, which is of great significance for accelerating the construction of the Chengdu–Chongqing economic circle.
