In the new era, engineering construction standardization is playing an increasingly prominent foundational and strategic role in Chinese-style modernization," said Wang Hui, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. High-quality association standards help promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological innovation achievements. Management of association standards should be strengthened to achieve complementary advantages and mutual support with government standards. He expressed the hope that the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization would base itself on practice and do better work on association standards.

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the Chinese Academy of Engineering jointly held a symposium in Beijing to study the implementation of the National Standardization Development Outline and to support high-quality development of engineering construction through association standards. Wang Hui, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Zhao Xiangang, former Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Zhao Xiangang stated that "supporting high-quality development through association standards under the new situation" is an important topic of the Chinese Academy of Engineering's research project "Research on Several Major Issues in Implementing the National Standardization Development Outline." This survey aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the relevant work experience and achievements of the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization in implementing the National Standardization Development Outline (hereinafter referred to as the "Outline"), and to make solid efforts and carry out practical work to promote the implementation of the Outline.

At the meeting, the head of the Standard Quota Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development introduced the standardization work of the Ministry. The China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization gave a comprehensive and systematic report on its association standardization work. Wang Haizhou, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Chen Gang, former Deputy Director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine; Zhang Gang, former Counselor of the State Council; Zhang Xiaogang, former President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO); and other expert members of the survey team, as well as Academicians Xu Jian and Zeng Bin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, exchanged views and held discussions on issues such as the relationship between association standards and government standards and the pathways for transformation, interconnection among association standards in different fields and disciplines, evaluation of association standards, sustainable development of association standards organizations, and the implementation and application of association standards. The survey team of the Chinese Academy of Engineering held that the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has achieved remarkable results in implementing the National Standardization Development Outline and deepening the reform of engineering construction standardization. The China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization has a long history and deep foundation in association standardization work, developing in step with China's standardization reform and carrying out pioneering exploration. Its quantity, scale, and quality level lead the country and have been widely recognized by the industry and the market, and its relevant experience and practices are worth learning from and promoting.
