The first double-line shield tunnel of Qingdao Metro Line 7 was successfully completed; the left line of the shield section from the receiving shaft at Xiawangbu Station to Fujin Road Station on Qingdao Metro Line 15 was successfully completed... Recently, the island city has experienced scorching summer weather, and the sustained high temperatures have brought severe challenges to production and daily life. However, the vast number of construction workers fighting on the front line of metro construction projects have braved the heat and raced against time to advance project construction, and both Qingdao Metro Line 7 and Line 15 have made new progress.

The first double-line shield tunnel of Line 7 was successfully completed

On July 29, the right-line shield of the Jingdai Station-Huanxiu Station section (referred to as the "Jinghuan section") of the Phase II project of Qingdao Metro Line 7, supervised by the Qingdao Municipal Public Utility Engineering Quality and Safety Supervision Station, constructed by the Second Construction Branch of Qingdao Metro Group, and undertaken by Qingjian Group Co., Ltd., was successfully received. This marks 29 days after the smooth completion of the left-line shield section of the Jinghuan section on June 30, 2024, and the first shield section of Line 7 has been successfully completed on both lines.

The Jinghuan section is constructed by the shield method. The right line has a total length of 1,135 meters and a minimum curve radius of 500 meters. It was launched from the small mileage end of Huanxiu Station on November 28, 2023, and received at the large mileage end of Jingdai Station, taking a total of 8 months. The surrounding environment is complex, passing beneath the main road of Mocheng Road with dense pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and passing alongside multiple important pipelines.

Facing these difficulties, in order to achieve smooth shield tunneling, Qingdao Metro organized the construction unit to strengthen process control such as optimization of shield machine selection, organize adjustment of the shield cutterhead configuration, and enhance the shield machine's rock-breaking capability; overcome the "inherent shortcomings" of the small launching site at Huanxiu Station and optimize the on-site construction layout; refine risk source identification, formulate special construction plans and emergency response plans, and use standardized team building as a starting point to promote refined on-site management, safely and efficiently completing key links such as shield machine hoisting, shield launching, crossing major risks, and shield receiving.
