Researcher Teng Yanjing lecturing

Researcher Teng Yanjing lectured on 'Basic Concepts and Principles of Building Foundation Design,' with the course content divided into two parts. The part on 'New Theoretical Advances in Building Foundation Design' covered multiple aspects including the basic concepts of foundations, the main content of foundation design, the 'conceptual design' of foundations, new advances in foundation design theory, and analytical methods of modern soil mechanics. In the second part, he discussed the engineering characteristics of foundation soils related to the construction process, including those related to stress history, in-situ and laboratory tests for obtaining foundation design parameters, experimental research on rebound and recompression deformation of foundation soils, and experimental research on the engineering characteristics of unloading stress paths in foundation soils during excavation.

Researcher Wang Shuguang lecturing

Researcher Wang Shuguang's course topic was 'Analysis of Hot Issues in the Code for Design of Building Foundations (GB50007-2011),' covering the historical evolution of the foundation code, the characteristics of foundation engineering, foundation bearing capacity, deformation control design, and foundation stiffness issues.

Trainees completing the course

During the classes, trainees actively asked questions and shared the difficulties they encountered in their practical work, receiving detailed answers from the two experts.

Interesting and innovative live-streamed teaching

Interactive session

This session specially invited three renowned industry experts and scholars: Researcher Huang Xiaokun, Chief Engineer of CABR Technology Co., Ltd.; Professor-level Senior Engineer Wei Lijin; and Researcher Wang Shuguang of the Institute of Foundation Engineering of the China Academy of Building Research. Under the moderation of Researcher Gao Wensheng, Director of the Institute of Foundation Engineering of the China Academy of Building Research, the experts engaged in in-depth exchanges in a relaxed, informal discussion format around the 'General Code for Building and Municipal Foundation Engineering,' sharing their views and insights and discussing related issues in the foundation engineering field in detail, providing professional answers to participating online viewers.

The discussion covered multiple aspects, including changes in the code system, the drafting process of the general code and its relationship with current relevant standards. In addition, the experts discussed the consultation opinions collected since the general code was promulgated and implemented. This discussion format made complex professional knowledge vivid and easy to understand, effectively promoting interaction and learning among industry peers.

Vivid on-site engineering teaching

On the second day of the course, the academic affairs team of the Foundation Engineering Academy led the trainees to the Xintian Tangshan LNG Project of HQC Beijing Company for on-site learning. In this teaching segment, the focus was on visiting and studying the construction site of the core technology of intelligent digital information-based stiffened composite piles.

On-site engineering teaching

Professor Deng Yaguang, founder of the stiffened composite pile; Director Li Jinguang and Engineer Zhu Musen of HQC Beijing Company; respectively introduced the project background, as well as the trial pile scheme design, trial pile finite element analysis, pile foundation scheme, and finite element analysis of the stiffened composite pile in this project. The verification showed that the vertical bearing capacity, horizontal bearing capacity, settlement, stability, and corrosion resistance of the stiffened composite pile all meet the design requirements of LNG tanks, successfully supporting the safe production of the Xintian Tangshan LNG Project.
